Privacy Policy
How PINote handles local notes, purchases, optional website analytics, and support information.
Last updated:
PINote is a local-first notes app for Mac. The Mac app does not require an account, sell personal information, show ads, or include analytics or tracking SDKs. Visitor analytics on this website starts only after you actively allow it.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the PINote macOS app, this website, its optional visitor analytics, and related support services. It describes how the PINote operator handles information involved in your use of PINote.
2. Information PINote handles
Notes, attachments, and settings
Note content, titles, tags, images, file attachments, search settings, appearance settings, and other app settings are stored locally on your Mac. PINote does not upload this content to servers operated by the PINote operator.
Files and folders you choose
When you use import, export, backup, or PINote Pro folder sync, macOS lets you choose files or folders. PINote accesses only the scope you explicitly choose and only while those features need it. You can disable folder sync or remove its authorization in Settings.
Clipboard and external links
When you copy, paste, or insert an attachment, PINote may read or write the macOS clipboard to complete the action you requested. When you click an external link in a note, macOS opens it in your default browser; the browser and destination website may handle information under their own policies.
PINote Pro purchases
If you choose to purchase PINote Pro, payment and transaction processing are handled by the Apple App Store. PINote does not receive your payment details; the app only verifies the purchase entitlement locally through Apple’s StoreKit to unlock the relevant features.
3. App privacy and website analytics
- The PINote app does not create or require an account and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise location.
- PINote does not collect note content, attachment content, or folder-sync content.
- The PINote Mac app does not use advertising, analytics, crash reporting, cross-app tracking, or remote telemetry services.
- This website uses essential scripts for navigation, interactive product previews, and privacy choices. It does not use advertising pixels.
Interactive website demo
The editable website demo stores notes, trashed notes, and text-size settings in this browser’s local storage so you can continue after refreshing. This content is not uploaded, sent to analytics, or synced to the Mac app. You can copy your notes; clearing this site’s browser data deletes the locally stored content.
Optional website analytics
Only after you choose “Allow analytics” does the website load Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic sources, public page views, and use of store buttons, product demonstrations, sample downloads, and support links. Google processes browser and device information, approximate location for reporting, and visit events, and uses analytics cookies to distinguish visits. We do not send note content, clipboard content, support messages, or personal information entered by visitors to this service. Page addresses sent for reporting exclude unapproved query parameters.
Until you choose, or if you decline, the website sends no analytics data to Google Analytics. Browsing and downloads remain available. Use “Analytics preferences” in the footer to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal stops subsequent measurement and clears this site's analytics cookies; the page reloads to unload any running analytics script. Withdrawal does not automatically erase previously processed data; contact support for related requests.
Your privacy choice is stored in this browser for 180 days. When analytics is allowed, limited campaign and article-number labels are kept within the current tab session and expire after 30 minutes without relevant activity. Analytics cookies are configured for up to 180 days. GA4 user and event data retention is set to two months without resetting on new activity; aggregated reports may remain available longer. See Google’s Privacy Policy for its processing practices. Website analytics is separate from data processing in the Mac app.
After you allow analytics, website download buttons include a fixed website, campaign, or article-number label in the App Store link, so we can understand campaign downloads through Apple's aggregate reports. These labels contain no personal identifiers. We do not pass GA4 visitor identifiers to Apple or match Apple download records to individual website visits. Until you choose, or if you decline, website buttons use ordinary store links. App Store data processing follows Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. When you contact us
If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, and diagnostic information you choose to send. We use it only to reply, handle support requests, and improve the product. We do not use support messages for advertising. Support email is processed through Purelymail and forwarded to a Gmail inbox used for product support, with a copy retained in the support mailbox. These providers process email under their own policies. You can contact the support address below to request deletion of correspondence; any information that needs to be retained to resolve an ongoing request or meet an applicable obligation will be explained in the response.
5. System and third-party services
PINote uses Apple-provided macOS, SwiftData, WebKit, and file-picker capabilities. Its editor resources are bundled with the app and do not depend on remote web content. If you choose a folder inside iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or another third-party service, that service may process files independently; please review its privacy policy. Cloudflare hosts this website and may process technical request information, such as an IP address and request time, to deliver and protect the service. Request country and browser language select an App Store storefront; the website does not store that selection in a cookie.
6. Retention, deletion, and backups
PINote’s local data remains on your Mac until you delete notes, empty Trash, delete backups, or remove the app’s data. Exported Markdown, attachments, and backup files are under your control and may remain in other locations you choose. PINote has no cloud account, so there is no remote account deletion request to make to PINote.
7. Security
PINote relies on macOS App Sandbox, user-selected file authorization, and local storage protections. You are responsible for protecting content stored on your Mac, in backups, or with third-party sync services. No local storage method can guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes
If PINote’s data practices change, we will update this page’s effective date and, where appropriate, update the in-app privacy notice and the privacy information in App Store Connect. Material changes will be explained where appropriate.
